We test and repair Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) DC/DC Converter control units in-house.
We are being inundated with these control units and because of this we are currently testing and repairing them in about one week and costing £350.00 plus carriage and VAT, testing costs £45.00 plus VAT which will be charged if customers decide not to proceed with repairs or it their DCDC Controller are not repairable, plus carriage.
This recent batch of DCDC units have an UNREPAIRABLE rate of about 15% that are beyond repair. There are actually lots of different failures and some of then can't be repaired due to extensive cascading of component failures, exploding chips are becoming more of an issue recently.
Recently we have seen an enormous increase in DCDC Converters sent to us, Many of these have been beyond repair due to the simple fact that the necessary software updates that were released in 2019 have not been installed, in America and Australia there were JLR campaigns and recalls to fix the cascading electrical failures. On DCDC control units operating in very cold (winter cold snaps) that have not had the software update the failed units often cant be repaired, with the software update the problem does not seem to happen!
So update the software on JLR DCDC Converters to save the inconvenience of breakdown and the delays of having a repair of replacement DCDC converter.
Specific hardware faults include:
P0D33 short circuit to ground
P0A94 internal fault

We test these DCDC Converters on a custom test bench using 48v and 12 V Batteries and charging systems so can confirm that the DCDC Control units function correctly in a live environment using our test bench systems.

We now support ALL part numbers and can remove the VIN No. so that the DCDC Converter can be used on other vehicles on request.
We test these DCDC Converters on a custom test bench using 48v and 12 V Batteries and charging systems so can confirm that the DCDC Control units function correctly in a live environment using our test bench systems. Control of the DCDC Controller on our test bench uses the standard, built in CAN BUS system so we can force correct loading and current checks of the DCDC Control Unit.
While the DCDC Converter is sent to us its important to charge the 12v battery to 100% charge to allow the complete charging system to "reset" before installing the repaired DCDC Converter.
ALL DCDC Converters that we test and repair are tested and checked under working conditions and various current load settings, so you can be sure that the DCDC converter works fully and correctly before we return it to you.
